What is Discount Percentage?

Assume that a store is selling a specific product for Y dollars which is less than the actual marked price (X dollars) on the product.

The store is selling the product at a discounted price because it selling at a reduced price of Y dollars.

The percentage decrease from X to Y is the discount offered on the product in terms of percentage.

How to calculate the Discount Percentage?

The formula to find the discount percentage on a product of marked price X, that is selling at a price of Y is

Discount % \( = \frac{X-Y}{X} \cdot 100 \)

Substitute given values of X and Y in the above formula, and simply the value on right hand side to get the discount percentage.
